I sang today for the first time since you left.
It wasn’t the timid chirp of a hatchling,
Doe-eyed and scared.
It was a sonorous roar that made you tap your
Feet and shake your hair in abandon.
I danced, too.
I twirled and wiggled from head to toe,
Gleefully lost in the moment,
Certain that sparks flew like dazzled rainbows
Wherever my eyes looked and my heart felt.
I sang and danced because despite it all,
I am still alive.
